Autobiographical Abecedarian

After a bit of a break from memoir writing I am reengaging by touching up a writing exercise I did a while back in Mary Oak’s Writing Council.

Check out her upcoming workshops https://mailchi.mp/cbdbac21f5f0/a-nature-writing-workshop-with-mary-oak-16920100?fbclid=IwAR1mjBvVD9iJQgTLwTaBaBbtlQpwethBFjt1PqCUhmt9HNm-Rv8WkJ2f73A

I am finding this exercise reminds me that no matter how disparate our thoughts may seem, they all have potential to enhance the poetics of life.

Here is my crack at figuring out, again, who I am.

A – is for Angela my given name. It is the first letter and I am the last child in my family

B – is for Beloved, the name that saves, my teacher Adi Da Samraj.

C – is for Crown of the head symbolizing birth and destiny.

D – is for Dog. Dogs hold my spirit. They run when I can not.

E – is for Everlasting. The miracle that life keeps arising.

F – is for Faith which I have very little of.

G – is for Gross, the physical strangeness of the ever changing world we continuously find ourselves in.

H – is for Happiness, a memory to be resurrected.

I – is for Indigenous. This harkens to the great collective sin of not allowing differing perspectives.

J – is for Jesus my first Guru

K – is for Kill, a farm girl sees it every day.

L – is for Love, always love.

M – is for Mother, a conglomerate of need and nurture.

N – is for Navigate. I navigate the plans I make as wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend

O – is for Octopus, my smart, graceful, soul stirring guide.

P – is for Pussy. Saying this word I reclaim my body.

Q – is for Quiet. Quiet is my sister.

R – is for Religions. I have a fascination for religions.

S – is for Safe. My heart’s desire is to feel safe.

T – is for Temple, the sacred space of belonging.

U – is for Uncover. Going out alone to see the other side.

V – is for Voracious. I am here due to the voracity of my ancestors.

W – is for Water, the source of healing on Earth

X – is for Xenophobic, the force that is fueled by fear and early abandonment. The judge with in must always beware of xenophobia.

    Absolutely Lovely.
PLEASE be increasingly in touch with the sacred aspect of your Being that is more in touch with this Truth (Absolutely Lovely)  than your own given name.
Keep living with an open and accessible heart (thank you Dalai Lama)–what we all hunger/yearn for whether it shows up on our radar or not.
    Blessings, Love & Sacred Celebration.

  3. Thanks for this wisdom! There is no separation in this body from spirit and at the same time we are fed by stories where we name and are named, the great mirror and mystery is that we are always reflecting and magnifying each other.
